8-hr Iowa Permit to Carry Handgun Safety Training Course 

Recommended for the citizen applying for his or her first permit to carry, this well-rounded course provides training in the following areas:

  • Review of Safe Gun Handling skills
  • The Defensive Mindset & Tactical considerations
  • Legal Aspects of Concealed Carry & Self-Defense
  • Interactions with Law Enforcement
  • Dealing with the Aftermath of a Shooting
  • Equipment Selection
  • Continued training options
  • 50-round live fire training course (optional)
  • Dry technical skill development (elements of marksmanship, draw, presentation, loading, unloading, and reloading)

Upon successful completion each student will receive a course completion certificate that can be used to demonstrate training to their county sheriff. $160   Also a great class for those who have not taken a full permit to carry class before. Bring a reliable handgun, at least 150 rounds of practice ammunition, strong side holster, and eye & ear protection.  A limited amount of loaner equipment is available upon request.

4-hr Iowa Permit to Carry Handgun Safety Course

Designed for those citizens with strong shooting skills who desire a non-shooting course.

The course will focus on the follow topics:

  • Review of Safe Gun Handling skills
  • The Defensive Mindset & Tactical Considerations
  • Legal Aspects of Concealed Carry & Self-Defense
  • Interactions with Law Enforcement & Training Opportunities

Upon successful completion each student will receive a course completion certificate that can be used to demonstrate training to their county sheriff . $60

Live Fire Re-qualification Sessions

For current permit holders who desire to requalfy in place of a taking a class for the purpose of renewing am Iowa permit to carry.  Applicants may elect to shoot the qualification course up to three times in order to reach a passing score of 70% (21/30).  Students must bring a strong side belt holster, carry pistol or revolver, 2 magazines, 100 rounds of commercial practice ammunition, and eye & ear protection.  Each score is recorded. Upon successful completion each applicant will receive a requalification certificate that can be used to demonstrate training to their county sheriff – $30
