The next Iowa Permit to Carry Weapons class is the 8-hr class on Sunday, Oct 20, 2013 from 8:00am-5:00pm at the Ames Izaak Walton League. Here is some information on the course:
The course will focus on the follow topics:
- Review of Safe Gun Handling skills
- The Defensive Mindset & Tactical considerations
- Legal Aspects of Concealed Carry & Self-Defense
- Interactions with Law Enforcement
- Dealing with the Aftermath of a Shooting
- Equipment Selection
- Continued training options
- 30-round live fire qualification course (optional)
- Dry technical skill development (elements of marksmanship, draw, presentation, loading, unloading, and reloading)
Class will end around 5:00pm. Each student who successfully completes the course will receive a certificate of completion to demonstrate training to your sheriff for the purpose of obtaining your permit to carry.
Cost of the class is $100. Current Ames Ikes members receive a $20 discount. This class is limited to 24 students. Upon successful completion of this course, each student will receive a certificate that meets statutory requirements for the purpose of demonstrating training to the county sheriff when applying for the Iowa Permit
to Carry Weapons.
